Rayan’s first goal earns Bournemouth draw with Villa | OneFootball

Teenager Rayan marked his first goal in English football as Bournemouth came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at the Vitality Stadium.

Villa took the lead in the 22nd minute against the run of play. Morgan Rogers, played in by Jadon Sancho, fired past Bournemouth keeper Djordje Petrovic after Villa had barely threatened.

The Cherries dominated possession and chances in the first half, but Emiliano Martínez kept them at bay with several excellent saves. Alex Scott, Junior Kroupi and Evanilson all went close, while Rayan hit the crossbar before halftime.

The breakthrough came 10 minutes into the second half. Rayan collected James Hill’s pass near the right touchline, cut inside past two defenders, and slotted low past Martínez to level the game, completing a memorable solo run and marking a first English goal following his move from Vasco da Gama.

Bournemouth pushed for a winner, but late efforts from Ryan Christie and others were saved. VAR also ruled out a potential penalty and chalked off a Kroupi goal for offside, leaving the points shared.

Villa remain third, level on points with Manchester City but with an extra game played, while Arsenal lead the table by nine points after beating Sunderland.
