Sport Bild reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Rocco Reitz is on the verge of a €20m transfer to RB Leipzig. Reitz remained available via a €28m release clause in his contract with his current Bundesliga club. The German Red Bulls have now negotiated this down and are set to conclude the deal.
Austrian midfielder Xaver Schlager sits on an expiring contract. Reitz always served as the top target to replace Schlager. The 23-year-old has steadily improved at his academy side since making his professional debut in October 2020. At present, the Duisburg-native’s estimated market value stands at a career high €17m.
While Sport Bild sticks to the €20m figure, Sky Germany still claims that Gladbach will receive €28m for their vice captain. Kicker, meanwhile, cites a €23m transfer fee for Reitz. The confirmed details of the deal shall prove interesting as there will surely be performance bonuses and re-sale clauses.
