Kicker reports that RB Leipzig have joined the race for Hoffenheim midfielder Grischa Prömel, with Wolfsburg, Sevilla and hometown club Stuttgart also linked with the 31-year-old.

Prömel is enjoying an impressive return to form at Hoffenheim this season, with six goals and three assists in 19 appearances in all competitions.

His rise towards the senior Germany set-up was disrupted by ill-timed injuries, notably one just before the 2022 World Cup. A Germany under-21 international and Olympic representative, he has long been rated highly in midfield.

The former Union Berlin stalwart rejoined his academy club on a free in summer 2022, signing a four-year contract that is now set to expire.

Hoffenheim are keen to secure a fee, and the player is valued at €3 million.

Leipzig have lost two midfielders in the current January transfer window, with Amadou Haidara sold and Kevin Kampl retired. Xaver Schlager is on an expiring deal and could seek a move, so the club remain active for midfield reinforcements.
