RB Leipzig prodigy set for surgery and lengthy injury lay-off after new setback

RB Leipzig had plenty to celebrate on Sunday as they crushed Hamburger SV 5-0 at the Red Bull Arena to return to winning ways.

However, there was a significant fly in the ointment for Die Roten Bullen, as Assan Ouedraogo was forced off in the first half after injuring his shoulder once again.

Sky Germany now reports that the 20-year-old midfielder needs surgery and faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Ouedraogo had only just returned from a shoulder problem, while other injuries have also seen him spend considerable time on the sidelines since joining RB Leipzig in 2024.

In total, the highly-rated central midfielder has made 27 appearances for Die Roten Bullen, scoring four goals and providing four assists.
