RB Leipzig trainer Ole Werner has confirmed that he’ll once again have to do without lead striker Romulo this weekend. The Brazilian continues to be hampered by a hamstring injury. This means that Werner will once again be relying on Danish forward Conrad Harder to spearhead his attack. Leipzig kick off the 2025/26 Bundesliga’s 12th matchday away against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday night.

Harder made his first start in RB colors against Werner’s former Bundesliga club Werder Bremen this past Sunday. Although the 20-year-old didn’t get his name on the scoresheet and was booked, Werner declared himself largely satisfied with the performance of the summer acquisition.

Harder will certainly have to contribute more this time, however, as the offensive star of the victory over Bremen Assan Ouédraogo will be missing due to injury. Werner may have to re-tool his tactics significantly to compensate for Ouédraogo’s absence.

I thought he got off to an extremely good start,” Werner remarked at his post-match press conference. “It’s not an easy game for a striker when the opponent is sitting so deep. I would like to have seen him assert himself more with some more runs. I nevertheless liked his runs into the box. Overall, he did well and can build on it.

I see Harder as being on the right track,” Werner reiterated on Thursday. “He did a very good job, especially in his work against the ball and in counter-pressing. That’s the first thing I demand from a striker, because we depend on everyone pressing and defending well.
