Racing Club de Lens will pay tribute to their former goalkeeper, Charles Itandje. The ex-Indomitable Lions shot-stopper has been invited this Sunday to Bollaert-Delelis to take the honorary kick-off ahead of the league match against Metz.

This is a tradition established by the Blood and Gold as part of their 120th anniversary celebrations. Every home match weekend, the club invites one of its former legends to take the ceremonial kick-off at Bollaert.

After André Lannoy, who took the kick-off for the match against Monaco, it’s Charles Itandje’s turn to be honored this weekend.

Arriving at Lens in 2001 from Red Star, he spent six years with the French club, guarding their goal 209 times before moving on to Liverpool.

Retired since 2019, the 43-year-old former keeper has served as goalkeeping coach at FC Versailles for the past six years.
