RC Lens in talks to sign Amiens goalkeeper Régis Gurtner | OneFootball

RC Lens are in advanced negotiations to sign Régis Gurtner (38) from Amiens SC, according to Foot Mercato. The veteran goalkeeper is being lined up as a backup option behind the club’s future number one.

Gurtner, who has been a mainstay between the posts at Amiens since 2015, missed training with the Ligue 2 side on Monday amid growing links with Lens. With over 500 professional appearances and more than 150 clean sheets in his career, the former Strasbourg man would bring valuable experience to the Lensois squad.

Last season, he started 33 league games for Amiens, conceding 49 goals and recording nine clean sheets. Talks are progressing well, and a deal could be concluded swiftly if all parties find an agreement. The Sang & Or are looking for a new number one and number two, following the departure of Mathew Ryan (33) at the end of his contract after he joined the club in January until the end of the season. Ryan’s arrival helped steady the ship and allow for Lens to finish in 8th, only five points behind RC Strasbourg Alsace in the UEFA Europa Conference League position.GFFN | George Boxall
