Both Adam Armstrong and Cameron Archer could be on their way out of Southampton before the end of the month, with the South Coast outfit reportedly in the hunt for a new striker.

Southampton’s season has been far from straightforward, with the Saints having fallen some way short of pre-season expectations thus far.

Will Still’s tenure lasted just 16 games, with the former Reims and Lens boss winning just four of his games in charge on the South Coast, initially being replaced by Tonda Eckert on an interim basis, and then permanently after a positive run of form.

However, Eckert’s new manager bounce came to a grinding halt with no wins in seven after their good run of form, and with just days of the transfer window remaining, the German boss has little time to make final additions to his squad, whilst exits to key players are also potentially on the horizon.

Both Adam Armstrong and Cameron Archer could potentially leave the club this month, with Alex Crook reporting via X that the Saints are looking to add another striker to their ranks before the deadline, which could pave the way for an exit for either, or both Armstrong and Archer.

Football League World's Southampton fan pundit, Martin, has shared their thoughts about the Saints potentially interested in bringing in a new forward before the end of the window, with both Adam Armstrong and Cameron Archer potentially on the move.

Martin said, "Yeah, they're going to need to bring somebody in. I'd be surprised if Armstrong goes without an adequate replacement."You know, he's scored 11 already, he could probably go and double his figures if he had the service, and he could hit a bit of form again. He's pretty prolific when he's on it. But with limited time now, the window's ticking, I think I heard yesterday that Boro were interested in Cameron Archer."So, whether they go for Armstrong or Archer, a lot of the Boro fans really want Archer. I think he'd be the one that I think most Saints fans preferred if anyone was to go. But we will see in the coming days."

Should one of Armstrong or Archer leave within the next few days, Southampton must already have a replacement lined up.

Armstrong has been the subject of interest from the likes of Middlesbrough, who are said to be keen on the 28-year-old this month, whilst Wrexham are said to have the Englishman in their sights, as per Alan Nixon.

Archer has also been the subject of interest this window, most recently with Scottish giants Rangers, with head coach Danny Rohl looking to delve back into the Championship market to potentially bring Archer north of the border before the window closes.

Ross Stewart and Kuryu Matsuki are the only other available options up front, though with Stewart's injury record and Matsuki, yet to prove himself in Saints colours, relying on either of those two would be a gamble.

Eckert has come out and said he would like to keep hold of Armstrong beyond this month, though whether he will be able to do so remains to be seen.
