FC Barcelona once again put on a goalscoring show for their fans as they visited Estadio La Cartuja for their last La Liga match on Saturday. The Blaugranes came out 3-5 winners from this game, despite having gone a goal down in the first few minutes of the game.

This match saw two high-profile managers take on each other, as Hansi Flick led the Blaugranes while the veteran Spanish coach Manuel Pellegrini led the Verdiblancos. Having come off the worst from this game, the Spanish manager admitted of some of the mistakes his team made in this game after the match.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Pellegrini particularly rued the defensive mistakes made by his team:

“We made significant defensive mistakes. They finished easily in the box. We had a bad day. Against Barcelona, you can’t have a bad defensive day. Also, that rather controversial penalty… We had a poor defensive game, and they were very effective.”

Similarly, he also recognized that his team did not really take the chances that came their way:

“I think the key was that we gave too many defensive liberties in the first half, and they were very efficient. We had as many chances as they did, but they scored them.”

On the other hand, he commended his Real Betis team for never giving up:

“If you have to lose, let it be like this, without giving up. We scored goals and even had a couple more chances. We never gave up.”

Pellegrini also disagreed with the penalty awarded to Barcelona:

“I think that penalty, where he first hits Bartra on the body and then on the hand… I have no intention of asking the referee. They invent a penalty to increase the lead. I don’t bring that up to talk about the lost game, but I don’t understand it.”

Although Manuel Pellegrini and his side came off the worst, they still put up a significant fight in this game. However, Barcelona was too good for the Verdiblancos on the night, and got the full three points.
