Real Madrid 27-year-old star not ruling out summer departure – report | OneFootball

Real Madrid have relied on Andriy Lunin as their No. 2 in the goal for a number of years now. While the Ukrainian international barely gets any regular game-time, he has proven himself to be an able deputy to Thibaut Courtois.

However, at the same time, year after year, the 27-year-old shot-stopper continues to be linked with a departure, given his lack of minutes with Los Blancos.

Lunin not ruling out an exit

Now, according to journalist Jorge C Picon, Lunin is not ruling out the possibility of leaving Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

With Thibaut Courtois closing in on the final phase of his career, the Merengues are keeping an eye on potential long-term replacements for the Belgian.

And, while Lunin is an option, he does not generate total consensus at the club. They consider the Ukrainian to be a great goalkeeper but some at Valdebebas believe he does not measure up to take over from Courtois.

Given the situation, Lunin is not taking the possibility of a departure of the table for the summer.

The 27-year-old had interest from clubs in the Premier League back in January, and it is likely that he will have suitors come summer, in case he does opt to leave the club once the season is over.

So far this season, Lunin has played only three matches across all competitions for Real Madrid, failing to keep a single clean sheet, and conceding eight goals.

He has a contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until the summer of 2030. Only time will tell whether this turns out to be the goalkeeper’s final season with the Spanish capital club or not.
