Real Madrid academy ace pens farewell letter after completing Premier League switch: ‘This will always be my home’ | OneFootball

Real Madrid’s deadline day was not as eventful as many expected, and no major arrival was even on the radar for the night.

What did unfold, however, was a chain of youth player sales and windfalls from second-order transfers, all of which helped add coins to the club’s coffers.

One such move, which was expected for a long time but finally closed last night, was the departure of Manuel Angel – the former captain of the Castilla side. Fulham have been close to signing him for a few days now, and Alvaro Arbeloa eventually got his player on deadline day.

Angel’s farewell note

Taking to his Instagram after finalising his departure from Real Madrid, Manuel Angel penned a heartfelt note to the fans and the club as he moves on to greener pastures.

“After 8 years, the time has come to close a chapter that has left an eternal mark on my life,” his letter began.

“I want to thank Real Madrid for allowing me to grow as a football player and as a person at the best club in the world.”

The player then outlined how it was a privilege to defend the Real Madrid crest across multiple youth levels, ultimately culminating in a few first-team appearances as well.

“It has been a source of immense pride to wear this jersey and represent this badge—from the youth academy, through Castilla, and finally fulfilling my dream of becoming part of the first team as well.”

“I take with me memories, experiences, and lessons that will stay with me forever. Over the years, I’ve been very happy here, surrounded by people who’ve made this journey so special.”

Handing out his gratitude to everyone who has helped him along the way over the years at Real Madrid, the former Castilla captain wrote,

“Thank you to all the coaches who’ve helped me improve every day, to the club staff who – often working behind the scenes – make sure everything runs smoothly, and to everyone at the residence, which has been my home for six years.”

“Thank you for your affection, support, and dedication. This chapter has taught me so much—both athletically and on a personal and professional level. I’m leaving as a better player, but above all, as a better person.”

Looking forward to what awaits him next in his career, the player finally bid the club of his dreams farewell.

“Now a new challenge begins, one I face with enthusiasm and ambition, but always carrying with me the values and lessons I learned here.”

“Thank you, Real Madrid. This will always be my home,” he concluded.
