Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Castellón teenager Fran Santamaría at the end of the season, ending his eight-year stay with his hometown club.

The club said in a statement that he will join next season. It added he has scored 15 goals in 32 games this term, 13 for Juvenil A in División de Honor and two for Castellón B in Segunda Federación, having led his youth group’s scoring before stepping up.

The agreement was finalised a few weeks ago, with his agent informing Ramón Soria and Tomeu Nadal. Castellón will receive a small fee, plus further income if the forward reaches set targets at Real Madrid.

Fran Santamaría Turch, born in Castelló on 10 April 2008, began at Tonín then joined Estrella de Castellón in 2017 before moving to Castellón in summer 2018. Over the past four seasons he has played 139 matches and scored 65 goals, including 19 in 36 last season and 13 in Liga Nacional Juvenil the year before.

Madrid previously signed Pau Ferrer from Castellón’s Juvenil A in July 2020 and Jeremy de León, 19, from the first team in January 2024. With Santamaría’s departure set, attention now turns to second-year juvenil Adrián Arapio, who is out of contract.
