Barcelona’s 5-0 win over Athletic Club last night gave the team their ticket to the final of the Spanish Super Cup.

As the defending champions of the event, there is pressure on the Blaugrana to defend their title this year and tonight they will know who they will face in the final later this week.

Their opponent in the title-deciding clash will be one of Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, and the two teams will lock horns later today in a decisive derby clash.

Spies all around

As relayed by AS in a recent report, ‘spies’ from both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid were present at the venue to witness Barcelona’s 5-1 win and took notes of the same.

From Los Blancos’ camp, Santiago Solari, the current director of football at the club, was in attendance. Juni Calafat, Real Madrid’s head of scouting, was also present in the audience to frame a judgment on Barcelona’s game play.

Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, sent Mateu Alemany to keep an eye on Barcelona and Hansi Flick’s tactics in the semifinal. The club’s director of professional football at the club, thus, was their spy in attendance.

It remains to be seen which of the two teams stand to claim the advantage secured through the scouting mission, but Barcelona will remain confident of taking home the trophy regardless.

After all, the Blaugrana looked confident as a unit last night, and the forward line clicked amazingly well.

So far this season, Barcelona have played against both Madrid-based sides once each. While the game against Real Madrid ended in a defeat, Flick & co. took all three points against Los Rojiblancos with a 3-1 win.
