La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Friday announced the internal sanctions facing midfield pair Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni.
This of course comes after a drama-filled day in Spain’s capital on Thursday.
Midfielders Valverde and Tchouaméni grabbed the headlines across all of Europe yesterday, owing to their involvement in a physical altercation.
After a tense training session at Valdebebas, the pair came to blows in the dressing room, culminating in Valverde being taken to hospital for stitches to a cut on his head.
Real Madrid confirmed the incident later in the day, announcing that disciplinary proceedings had been opened against the two Blancos stars.
And as alluded to above, on Friday, the results of as much have been revealed.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s official website and social media platforms:
‘Real Madrid C. F. announces that, following the events that led to the disciplinary proceedings initiated yesterday against our players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni, both appeared today before the investigator assigned to the case.
‘During their appearance, the players expressed their complete remorse for what happened and apologized to each other.
‘Furthermore, they extended their apologies to the club, their teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans, and both have made themselves available to Real Madrid to accept whatever sanction the club deems appropriate.
‘Under these circumstances, Real Madrid has decided to impose a financial penalty of five hundred thousand euros on each player, thereby concluding the corresponding internal procedures.’
