A recent report from Defensa Central suggests that Real Madrid are rethinking their stance on Rodrygo, following a clear upturn in the Brazilian’s form over the past few weeks.
Not long ago, the picture looked very different. Within the club, Rodrygo’s future appeared all but decided.
After a disappointing start to the season, which mirrored his struggles towards the end of last year, Madrid were prepared to listen to offers and planned to place him on the market next summer.
His name had already been circulating internally as one of the players who could be sacrificed to reshape the squad.
Interestingly, that outlook has now shifted, and a big reason for that change has been the faith shown by Xabi Alonso.
Rather than giving up on the winger, Alonso continued to back him, offering regular opportunities and protecting him during a difficult spell.
Slowly, that trust has paid off, as Rodrygo has re-entered the conversation at the Bernabeu not as a problem, but as a solution.
The Brazilian is once again playing with confidence. He is taking on defenders, finding space in tight areas, and, most importantly, scoring goals.

For months, he looked hesitant and disconnected, almost as if he had lost belief in his own ability. That version of Rodrygo is now fading.
In its place is a direct, dangerous forward who unsettles defences and adds unpredictability to Madrid’s attack.
This revival has forced Real Madrid to reassess. A summer sale once felt inevitable, but now it is no longer a certainty.
Even last summer, when a potential exit was discussed, no offer truly convinced the board.
Club president Florentino Perez ultimately decided to give Rodrygo another chance, a decision that is starting to look justified.
That said, Rodrygo’s future will depend heavily on what he produces in the second half of the season.
If he maintains his current level and continues to be decisive, Real Madrid are expected to keep him without hesitation.
If, however, his form drops again and old doubts resurface, the club will not hesitate to put him straight back on the market.
