Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has provided an update on the wellbeing of defensive star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

This comes after the summer arrival in Spain’s capital set alarm bells sounding on Tuesday night.

Real Madrid were of course back in action yesterday evening, welcoming Olympique Marseille to the Santiago Bernabéu for the club’s Champions League opener.

When all was said and done, Los Blancos kept alive their flawless start to the campaign, courtesy of a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

As alluded to above, though, on an otherwise positive evening’s work, the hosts were also dealt a blow on the personnel front.

This came inside the opening minutes of action, upon Trent Alexander-Arnold limping from the field of play with what appeared to be a muscular injury.

Speaking to the media in the game’s aftermath, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his right-back’s wellbeing was in turn put to Xabi Alonso.

And Real Madrid’s headmaster went on to explain:

“It’s not as bad as we thought but we have to wait (for the outcome of an upcoming round of medical tests).“
