It is not often that an academy graduate makes it big at Real Madrid, for the club’s deep pockets help fund any major signing needed irrespective of how highly valued the player is.
Nacho Fernandez, who left the club in June 2024, was one such rare player to have climbed up the ranks of the academy and to stay in the first team for decades before leaving as the captain.
One current Real Madrid star who is an equally accomplished homegrown product is Dani Carvajal. His time at the club, however, appears to be coming to an end.
As relayed by Mundo Deportivo in a recent report, Dani Carvajal already knows that Real Madrid will not renew his contract which runs out this summer. In that sense, he knows that his time at the club is coming to an end.
Needless to say, the coming weeks will be Carvajal’s final weeks as a Real Madrid player and the end of what has been a glorious chapter in his career.
Carvajal has been at the club since 2002 when he joined the youth team and he worked his way up the ranks to break into the Castilla side.

He was then sold to Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year contract but was recalled just one season later given his performances.
Since then, he has been a mainstay for Real Madrid on the field and is currently not only the captain but the last standing man from the golden generation. Simultaneously, he has been a key figure in the Spanish national team.
While the 34-year-old has indeed shown signs that he can go for another few years, injuries have tormented him in recent times.
From the ACL injury he suffered last season, Carvajal has continually suffered setbacks and even the current season has not seen him enjoy continuity.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold now at the club, moreover, Real Madrid have an ideal candidate to carry on the legacy. Carvajal’s chapter, thus, is set to come to a close.
