With the 2024/25 season set to come to an end in a few weeks, Real Madrid have already begun planning their squad for the next campaign, with some tweaks expected to be made.
As reported earlier today, Thibaut Courtois is set to sign a new two-year contract renewal, committing his future to the club until 2028.
The Belgian superstar’s renewal, though, could lead to uncertainty over the future of backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.
In case Lunin ends up leaving in the summer, Real Madrid could consider making a move for Chelsea outcast Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is currently on loan at AFC Bournemouth, reports journalist Alfredo Matilla.
Kepa spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Real Madrid having been signed as an emergency after Courtois suffered an ACL injury.

The Spanish international has made it clear on multiple occasions that he enjoyed his stint at the Santiago Bernabeu and would have loved to continue but it was not to be.
Currently at Bournemouth, where he has been performing well, Kepa could become an option for Real Madrid if Lunin leaves.
Florentino Perez does not wish to spend heavily on a backup goalkeeper and given that the Spaniard’s contract at Chelsea will expire next year, he could be available for cheap.
As far as Lunin is concerned, the 26-year-old has not forgotten missing last season’s UEFA Champions League final against Dortmund, despite playing a key role in earlier rounds, nor being benched again in this year’s Copa del Rey final in favour of Courtois.
As such, if a strong offer arrives, a departure could be a realistic scenario, with Real Madrid keen to avoid prolonged internal tension.
Lunin already has several proposals, including one from Galatasaray. If he does end up leaving, Kepa could be considered as a viable option.
