Dani Carvajal finds himself in a tricky situation at Real Madrid. Even though he has been back from injury for over a month, he has found game-time hard to come by under manager Alvaro Arbeloa.

The 34-year-old right-back has only played twice since returning, clocking less than 30 minutes on the field, with Arbeloa preferring Federico Valverde, and now David Jimenez, and Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the club captain.

The manager seemed to suggest after the Valencia game that Carvajal was not yet fully ready to return and did not want to take any risks.

Carvajal undergoes tests in London, reports positive

Now, AS reports that Carvajal travelled to London last week to undergo knee tests at a world-renowned specialist clinic.

The captain of Real Madrid was forced out of action in October last year due to the presence of a “free intra-articular body” in his kneecap, which caused him significant problems.

Having undergone arthroscopic surgery, Carvajal spent two months on the sidelines to recover from the problem.

And, the tests carried out in London last week showed that issue has now been overcome, with the defender submitting the medical report to the club’s medical staff.

Carvajal made the trip to England accompanied by Antonio Rudiger, who was familiar with the London clinic from his time at Chelsea and also took the opportunity to undergo a check-up.

The visit clarified doubts about that “free intra-articular body” which had been causing concern at Valdebebas. There is nothing serious. He is fit to play.

Despite that, the 34-year-old right-back is not playing for Real Madrid, which could further jeopardise his place in the Spain squad for the World Cup.

Luis de la Fuente wants Carvajal in the team, but also wants him to play regularly so that he can arrive at the tournament with form and rhythm behind him.

So, in case, his situation at Real Madrid does not improve, the veteran could lose his spot in the La Roja squad.
