In a major boost for Real Madrid, MARCA reports that Eder Militao is ever so close to making a comeback from his lengthy injury layoff.
As per the report, the centre-back was visited by the doctor who operated on his serious tendon injury in April, Lasse Lempainen, who has now cleared him to return.
Lempainen paid a visit to the Real Madrid facilities earlier this week in order to check on Militao’s progress and take a closer look at how is recovery has come along.
Soon after, he took to social media, where he wrote the following message: “Great day in Madrid with Eder Militao and the Real Madrid medical and performance staff.
“A full day dedicated to Return to Perform testing as Eder continues to progress according to plan following surgery for his severe hamstring injury.”
“It was our pleasure to bring our experience and expertise into his Return to Play process, with the ultimate goal of helping him return safely — and perform again at the highest level.”
“Many thanks to Eder and the entire Real Madrid staff for the excellent collaboration and a highly successful day. Getting back on the pitch is a milestone. Returning to your highest level of performance is the goal.”
Militao underwent surgery on 28 April 2026 for a tear to the proximal hamstring tendon. His expected recovery period was five months, meaning that he is now in the final stages of his rehabilitation.
Just a few days ago, the centre-back was seen working through an intense physical session on the pitch, showing signs of significant progress.
Following this latest assessment from the doctor who operated on him, which has proved positive, the next step is for him to begin working with the squad and rejoin his teammates fully.
The Brazilian international’s return will depend on how he responds to working with the rest of the squad and how long he needs to reach the physical level required to play again.
But, if everything goes according to plan, his comeback is expected to happen during October.

Militao now faces a major challenge: returning to competitive football and reaching the level that established him as one of the world’s leading centre-backs, after almost 800 days on the sidelines across the last three seasons.
The problems began during the 2023-24 season, when he suffered an ACL rupture in his left knee. He spent 231 days out.
The following season brought three more injuries, including another complete ACL tear, this time in his right knee, accompanied by damage to both menisci. That injury kept him out for another 255 days.
Last season, he suffered a further four injuries. Since 2023, his various injuries have amounted to a total of 781 days out of action.
The latest medical assessment therefore represents an important step in a long rehabilitation process, with Militao now moving towards a return to group training and, ultimately, competitive football.
