Real Madrid confirmed an injury to Dean Huijsen just over a week ago and announced that the youngster had faced a setback in his calf muscle, keeping him out for between five to seven days.
In any case, the prognosis of his setback was positive and there was even some hope that he might return in time for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League playoff against Benfica.
The game has come and gone, but Huijsen remains unavailable. In fact, he does not appear to have made much progress in his recovery and his immediate availability continues to be in doubt.
Now, as confirmed by COPE in a recent update, Huijsen is not even expected to make it back in time to face Getafe on Monday.

As it stands, there is optimism that he will return for the Celta Vigo game and play some part. He is then expected to be fully ready to go in the team’s first leg of the UCL Round of 16.
With even Raul Asencio taking a massive blow in the last game, trying times are again approaching for Real Madrid’s defence.
It is a pity Huijsen is once again at the centre of the crisis and unavailable to take advantage of it, for his good start to life at the club is slowly being undone.
So far this season, the 20-year-old has made 17 league starts for Real Madrid in La Liga and has one goal and two assists to his name. He has overseen five clean sheets and averages over ten defensive actions per game.
