Real Madrid duo Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. delivered an electrifying performance upon their return to the Brazil national team, silencing critics after being left out of the previous international call-up.

In Brazil’s 5-0 thrashing of South Korea, the pair was at the heart of almost every attacking move, combining flair, precision, and lethal finishing.

Rodrygo was the standout performer of the night, scoring twice while playing as a centre forward.

His sharp movements, confidence in possession, and ability to find space behind the defence brought back flashes of his best form under Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

His first goal came from a swift counter led by Vinicius, while the second was the result of intelligent positioning and anticipation inside the box.

Flashes of the past

Vinicius, meanwhile, was at his dazzling best. The Real Madrid winger terrorised the South Korean defence with his pace and creativity, contributing a goal and an assist.

He played a key role in Brazil’s second goal by initiating the move that Rodrygo finished and later got on the scoresheet himself, rounding off the night with Brazil’s fifth goal.

His chemistry with Rodrygo was fluid, instinctive, and devastating, something Madrid fans have witnessed countless times at club level.

During his 78 mintues on the field, he not not contributed to two goals but also created three chances, completed 30 out of 32 passes and completed two dribbles.

Message to Xabi Alonso

Alongside them, Eder Militao also impressed, playing the full 90 minutes and maintaining composure at the back, ensuring Brazil’s clean sheet remained intact.

For Rodrygo, this international break served as a much-needed confidence boost.

After struggling to find consistency in front of the goal for Real Madrid this season, his double for Brazil showed he still possesses the killer instinct and versatility to thrive both as a winger and a central forward.

The performance not only strengthens his claim for more minutes under Xabi Alonso but also sends a clear message that he remains a vital piece in Brazil’s and Madrid’s attacking future.
