Real Madrid have taken some crucial steps in their squad-building so far, notably bringing in Bournemouth defensive prodigy Dean Huijsen while Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to join the club on a free transfer.

Now, Real Madrid’s priority is to beef up the ranks in the left-back position, with everything pointing towards a move for Alvaro Carreras.

Real Madrid agree personal terms for Carreras

A recent report from Diario AS has offered an update on Real Madrid’s pursuit of Carreras, confirming that the club have agreed everything with Carreras.

Personal terms have been reached, with the player keen on making the move to Santiago Bernabeu in the coming summer.

Formerly a product of the Real Madrid youth academy, Carreras has worked hard to make a name for himself in professional football and is therefore, determined to prove himself at the Bernabeu.

Although Real Madrid are yet to agree terms with SL Benfica, the club are planning to complete everything in the near future.

As per the report, Real Madrid will look to finalise the deal with Benfica after the Portuguese cup final, which is scheduled to take place today between Benfica and FC Porto.

Once the deal is done, Carreras is expected to join the Real Madrid setup as a direct alternative for Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.

Both Garcia and Mendy have struggled to perform this season, struggling either form or injuries. Real Madrid, therefore, are expected to listen to offers for the duo in the coming summer.

As for Carreras, Fabrizio Romano adds that the fullback will play his final game for Benfica today. The player, for now, is fully focused on the cup final, which will be followed by an offer from Real Madrid, regardless of the outcome.
