At the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night, Real Madrid supporters unveiled banners reading No to racism and Respect as the teams emerged for the Champions League play-off second leg against Benfica.

L'Équipe reports that the display from the home crowd was a response to the Prestianni-Vinicius incident in the first leg.

After Vinicius scored, Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni was accused of directing racist abuse at the Brazilian, allegedly calling him "monkey" five times while covering his mouth with his shirt.

The Argentine forward denied the allegations.

UEFA suspended Prestianni for the return play-off staged on Wednesday.
