Real Madrid face off against Bayern Munich tomorrow night at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie.
Coming into the game on the back of a loss to Mallorca in La Liga, the Merengues have their task cut out against a dangerous Bayern outfit, who pulled off a stunning 3-2 comeback win over SC Freiburg this past weekend.
Leading up to the contest, it has been reported that Ferland Mendy is unlikely to play any part against the Bavarians tomorrow.
However, in a bit of a positive development, the French left-back did a part of the training today with the rest of the group.
It is a step in the right direction, with the aim being for Mendy to return and be available in time for the second leg against Bayern Munich, reports Guillermo Rai of The Athletic.
Mendy has endured another injury-riddled campaign and has barely been available all through the season. So far in 2025/26, the defender has made only five appearances across all competitions.
The 30-year-old did show signs of impressive form in the games against Celta Vigo and Manchester City last month before sustaining a hamstring problem again.
Having him available for the first leg tomorrow, to deal with the dangerous Michael Olise, would have been a huge boost for Real Madrid.
However, despite doing a part of the group training session today, it is expected that he will not be ready for return at the Bernabeu. Instead, the idea will be for Mendy to be ready for the reverse fixture at the Allianz Arena on 15 April.
