With the signing of Franco Mastantuono this summer coupled with the possibility of Arda Guler gaining more prominence, there have been some speculations about the future of Brahim Diaz at Real Madrid.

The Moroccan international has not been a regular starter at the club since returning from AC Milan but delivered more often than not when called upon by former manager Carlo Ancelotti.

However, this summer, there has been a question mark over his continuity, with Bayer Leverkusen, in particular, showing an interest in his signing.

Real Madrid want to renew Brahim Diaz

But now, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are in advanced talks to renew the contract of Brahim Diaz which expires in the summer of 2027.

The Merengues have been working on an extension for the versatile attacking midfielder over the past couple of weeks and agreement is almost reached.

The extension is expected to run for five years, meaning Brahim’s new deal will run until the summer of 2030.

Already having closed some new signings, Real Madrid are focusing on securing contract renewals for their current players.

This past weekend, Raul Asencio signed a new contract until 2031 and now an agreement has almost been reached with Brahim over a deal for five years.

Romano mentions that once the extension of the former Manchester City starlet is secured, Real Madrid will shift their focus towards renewing Thibaut Courtois’ contract which expires next year.

Brahim featured in 52 matches in all competitions in the 2024/25 season, managing six goals and seven assists. Having recovered from injury, the Moroccan will hope to secure his place in Alonso’s plans.
