While Real Madrid secured a hugely important win over FC Barcelona on Sunday, the discourse following the game has largely been dominated by the controversial moments that took place at the Santiago Bernabeu.

One such moment, that has been constantly talked about since the game, is Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr.’s outburst at manager Xabi Alonso after his substitution a little after the 70-minute mark.

The 25-year-old superstar did not hide his displeasure at being taken off and hit out at Alonso and even headed straight to the locker room before eventually returning to the bench.

Since then, reports have suggested that all is not well between the Brazilian superstar and the Basque tactician, which could lead to more problems down the line.

Real Madrid looking to rebuild the relationship between Vini and Alonso

As such, Mundo Deportivo reports that Real Madrid have made it a priority to rebuild the relationship between Alonso and Vinicius following the tension that arose during El Clasico.

Within the club, senior figures see harmony between the coach and the Brazilian forward as essential to the long-term success of the project.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, is expected to be a key day. After two days off granted by Alonso following the Clasico, both will meet again at Valdebebas. It will be then when a conversation between them finally takes place.

Real Madrid hope that the meeting will serve to reconcile both parties and that the incident from El Clasico will be left behind – a bad moment, but ultimately just an anecdote.

While the hierarchy at Valdebebas was displeased with Vinicius’ reaction during his substitution, they understand it as an impulsive outburst rather than a sign of deeper conflict. Although they do not condone his behavior, they believe the player has learned his lesson.

No fines on Vini from the club

Furthermore, Real Madrid will not impose an internal fine on Vinicius – that decision is entirely up to Xabi Alonso. The coach will determine whether or not to sanction the player.

After the match, the two exchanged a brief hug in the dressing room, though that does not mean all has been forgotten. Regardless of what Alonso decides, the club’s leadership fully backs his authority.

Within the dressing room, the mood has already softened. While some players were upset by Vinicius’ display of frustration, there is no anger towards him as most now agree that he has a good heart and that the episode will serve as a valuable lesson for him.

For now, the next move belongs to Alonso. Real Madrid trust his judgment but are hopeful that reconciliation will close the chapter and restore calm ahead of the crucial weeks to come.
