Real Madrid have joined the growing list of clubs monitoring Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah, with the England international attracting interest after his impressive development in Germany.

According to Bild, Madrid are closely following the 23-year-old and see him as a potential defensive addition ahead of next summer. The report says the Spanish giants could need to strengthen their defence and have been watching Quansah closely.

Quansah moved to Leverkusen from Liverpool in 2025 after helping England win the European Under-21 Championship. He signed a long-term contract with the Bundesliga club and has since established himself as a versatile option capable of playing both centre-back and right-back.

His performances have also attracted attention from the Premier League. Arsenal reportedly made a €65 million offer for Quansah in the summer, which Leverkusen rejected, while Chelsea have also made an enquiry about the defender.

Liverpool remain another important part of the picture. The Reds negotiated a buy-back option when Quansah left Anfield, with Bild reporting that they could bring him back for €70m next summer.

Quansah’s ability to operate across the back line has added to his appeal. He has featured regularly for Leverkusen this season, while his progress has also earned him opportunities under England manager Thomas Tuchel. He started against Spain before dropping to the bench for the subsequent Nations League victory over the Czech Republic.

Real Madrid’s interest therefore adds another major European club to an increasingly competitive situation around the former Liverpool academy player. However, there is no indication of a formal offer from Madrid at this stage.

With Quansah under contract at Leverkusen, any potential move next summer would depend on whether Liverpool activate their buy-back clause or another interested club reaches an agreement with the Bundesliga side.
