In recent years, Real Madrid have become accustomed to signing young prospects with the idea that they will contribute both immediately and in the long term.
However, it is not common for them to become regular starters with the first team soon after arriving.
Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo spent time with Castilla, Martin Odegaard endured a string of loans before being sold, and both Arda Guler and Endrick played very little in their respective first seasons.
However, with a certain Franco Mastantuono, things have been different this season, with the summer arrival being thrown into the deep end right away.
According to AS, Real Madrid are trying to keep expectations around Mastantuono under control, even though they have surged due to the unwavering confidence of both Xabi Alonso and the club, as well as his solid start.

The former River Plate player joined the squad when pre-season was already well underway and, after only four training sessions, was given minutes in the league opener vs Osasuna.
The 18-year-old starlet’s performance was so encouraging that it was followed by two consecutive starts against Real Oviedo and Mallorca.
And, based on early evidence, it is safe to say that the Argentine has fitted in seamlessly at Real Madrid.
In his three matches for the Spanish capital club, the teenage sensation, largely operating on the right flank, has showed flashes of his quality – precise on the ball, able to create danger with his dribbling and vision, while not being shy on confidence to take aim at goal.
Given how things have gone, the expectations around Mastantuono have run high. But within the club they want to keep them under control and take things step by step with the teenager.
