As Real Madrid return to action later this week, the team is seemingly reeling under an unforeseen injury crisis.

The recently concluded international break was not kind to Los Blancos with the team losing several stars via fitness issues. In fact, the likes of Ferland Mendy and Aurelien Tchouameni even returned to Madrid without having played a game.

With the game against Real Sociedad just around the corner, Carlo Ancelotti will hope to count on as many first-team stars as possible. Mario Cortegana provides an update on the same.

Two positive updates

As revealed by the Spanish journalist, Jude Bellingham and Tchouameni felt good in today’s training session according to the club and thus paved the way for optimism over their participation on match day 5 of La Liga.

The Englishman, who has been out since the team’s draw against Mallorca, could make a return earlier than expected as he is feeling better and close to his complete fitness.

Tchouameni, meanwhile, could return without missing a single game for the club as he returned early from the French national camp after sustaining a mild injury.

While the duo bring positive news, the likes of David Alaba, Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Ceballos are still on the sidelines and far from a complete recovery.

While the former is ruled out with an ACL tear, the French midfielder is yet to feature this season after a sprain on his collateral ligament. Ceballos, meanwhile, was ruled out with a long-term injury only earlier this month.

Heading into the game against the Basque side, the Italian coach can thus count on most of his trusted resources, especially given that Eder Militao is ready to start as well.

After two wins and two draws in their opening four games, it is high time the defending champions get back on track in the league race.
