When Franco Mastantuono joined Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal, he did not enjoy the best of starts to life in Serie A, with his performance against Torino earlier in the season being a source of ridicule.

However, the Argentine has since bounced back nicely and is slowly starting to establish himself as a key player in the Fiorentina setup.

The player himself appears to be very happy with his progress and has recently offered his two cents on life at Fiorentina.

Mastantuono happy at Fiorentina

Speaking to TyC Sports upon his arrival in Argentina for international duty, Mastantuono expressed his satisfaction with how his loan spell has unfolded.

“My time in Serie A is going very well. I’m adapting to Italian football, I’m playing and doing very well, so I’m happy,” he said (h/t Defensa Central).

The Argentine also touched on the stylistic differences between Serie A and his previous experience in Spain. “It’s a different style of football than in Spain, but equally beautiful,” he added.

Mastantuono left Real Madrid this summer with the aim of accumulating regular, quality minutes, something that was hard to come by given the fierce competition in the club’s attack.

After a slow start, that decision is beginning to pay off, with his standout moment coming against Venezia, where he scored a hat-trick to help Fiorentina secure their first win of the season.

His fine form has also earned him a recall to the Argentina national team, having missed out on the World Cup squad.

Real Madrid keeping a close eye

The report adds that Real Madrid remain fully invested in Mastantuono’s development and are monitoring his progress closely.

Real Madrid’s decision to loan him this past summer was not a sign of diminished faith in the player. Rather, it was a strategy to hand the youngster regular playing time he needs in order to develop further.

Real Madrid retain high hopes for the Argentine, whom they signed for a significant fee from River Plate, and will be encouraged by his recent upturn in form.

The competition for attacking places at the club remains intense, but if Mastantuono continues to impress in Italy, he could yet force his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans upon his return.
