Real Madrid confirm ligament injury for France defender Ibrahima Konaté | OneFootball

Real Madrid have announced that Ibrahima Konaté (27) has been diagnosed with a collateral ligament injury to his right leg by the club’s medical staff. No information has yet been provided regarding the length of his absence.

Selected by Zinédine Zidane for the Nations League matches against Turkey, Italy and Belgium, the French defender was ultimately replaced by Manchester United’s Leny Yoro (20), as officially confirmed by the French FA on Thursday morning.

Having joined Real Madrid this summer from Liverpool FC, Konaté has enjoyed a busy start to the season, starting all seven matches he has featured in across all competitions.

Having become a substitute for the French national team, with Maxence Lacroix (26) preferred to him as a coming-off-the-bench option during the World Cup, the Paris native had hoped to capitalise on the absence – also due to injury – of William Saliba (25) to regain some playing time and impress Zidane, his new manager, and his coaching staff.
