Real Madrid may be heading towards the end of a frustrating campaign, but the club’s focus is already fixed on the future, and more specifically on Dean Huijsen.

According to recent updates from Defensa Central, Real Madrid remain fully convinced that the young centre-back will take a major step forward next season. 

As per the outlet, despite criticism from fans and a dip in form during the 2025/26 campaign, the club’s position has not changed.

Huijsen backed by the club

The Spaniard’s first season at Real Madrid has been a story of highs and lows. 

The Spanish international made a strong impression early on, showing composure, presence, and the ability to play out from the back, qualities that justified his big-money move.

However, as the season progressed, inconsistency crept into his game. 

A difficult run of performances led to growing doubts, and at one stage, sections of the crowd at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium made their frustration clear.

Even so, the club has taken a calm and long-term view of the situation.

Real Madrid’s decision to sign Huijsen for around €60 million was not a short-term move. In fact, the fee made him the most expensive defender in the club’s history.

As a result, the remaining La Liga matches are crucial for Huijsen to rebuild momentum, silence critics, and establish himself as a reliable option in defence.
