Jude Bellingham once again proved why he is one of the most decisive players in world football, inspiring Real Madrid to a 2-1 victory over Barcelona

The English midfielder was directly involved in both goals, scoring one and assisting another, as Los Blancos secured three valuable points in a tightly contested encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Having lost all four Clasicos last season, Bellingham admitted that this win carried extra meaning for the team and its fans.

Speaking to Real Madrid TV after the game, he expressed his joy at finally overcoming their arch-rivals.

“A very important win for us. We’re very happy. We had been losing to them for a long time and today is a good day for all of us.

“A great effort from everyone and we deserve the three points,” he said.

A collective effort

Reflecting on the team’s performance, the 22-year-old praised his teammates for their composure in possession and their defensive solidity in the latter stages.

“In the first half, with the ball, we were very decisive in every possession, with a shot. In the second half, we were good defensively.

“Militao, Huijsen, Fede, Carreras, Carvajal, when he came on. A great game by the whole team,” Bellingham added.

The Englishman also spoke about his connection with Kylian Mbappe, which produced Real Madrid’s opening goal.

The midfielder turned brilliantly under pressure before threading a perfectly weighted pass to the French forward, who made no mistake.

“They play very high up the pitch, and we have Mbappe; with him, it’s easier. That’s why I turned and passed. Easy,” he explained.

Understanding the game

Bellingham’s goal showcased his sharp instincts inside the box, a quality that has become a hallmark of his game.

Addressing the suggestion that he often benefits from luck, he offered a thoughtful response.

“A lot of people say it’s luck, but for me it’s how I understand the game, knowing where the ball is going and being well-positioned and ready for when the ball arrives,” he said.

The 22-year-old also reflected on his recovery process after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder earlier in the season, revealing that he now feels stronger and fully fit.

“I feel very good. I’ve worked hard these past few months with the physios, in the gym.

I’m very happy because I feel very good and ready for what’s to come,” he concluded.
