Real Madrid find themselves in an extremely difficult position heading into Sunday’s La Liga clash against Alaves.

As already confirmed Xabi Alonso is set to be without the majority of his first-team squad for the game.

Alvaro Carreras, Fran Garcia, and Endrick are all suspended while Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, Eduardo Camavinga, Ferland Mendy, and Trent Alexander-Arnold will be out with injury.

Moreover, as reported earlier today, Antonio Rudiger also appears set to miss the game due to a fresh physical problem while Kylian Mbappe also remains a major doubt for the encounter.

Federico Valverde to travel to Vitoria

On top of that, AS reported earlier that Federico Valverde was also a doubt for the match as he was dealing with muscle overload and fatigue.

The Uruguayan international’s potential unavailability would come as a huge blow for Real Madrid, given that he is the preferred option to fill in at right-back in the absence of Carvajal and Trent, while the midfield unit is also hit with Camavinga’s absence.

However, according to journalist Rodra, Valverde is expected to make himself available to face Alaves on Sunday night.

It is a crucial game for Real Madrid, who have won only two of their last eight matches in all competitions, with manager Xabi Alonso’s job very much on the line this weekend.

Having a key player like Valverde, who also happens to be the captain in Carvajal’s absence, will be critical as the team tries to bounce back from their disappointing run of results.

Meanwhile, Dean Huijsen was able to train with the rest of the team today and is expected to be available as well, which will come as a relief for Alonso & co.
