Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace has emerged as one of the most sought-after defenders in the transfer market.
The England international is out of contract at the end of the season and is generating interest from several top clubs in the Premier League as well as across Europe.
Real Madrid, for one, have been strongly linked with a move for the 25-year-old defender as they scour the market for reinforcements in the centre-back position for next season.
However, according to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Real Madrid are not in the race to sign Guehi at this point.
Indeed, the Spanish capital giants are not pursuing a deal for the former Chelsea star, who might not have to wait until the summer to secure his next move.
After all, Manchester City are weighing up an offer to sign Guehi in the ongoing transfer window by paying a fee, while Arsenal, too, have entered the race to secure his services.

Liverpool, who tried to sign Guehi in the summer but saw the operation fall through, are also very much in the picture.
With three Premier League giants positioning themselves to move for Guehi right now instead of waiting until the end of the season, Real Madrid seem to have opted not to pursue the Crystal Palace captain.
With Guehi seemingly not a key target, interest in Ibrahima Konate cooling down, and Dayot Upamecano set to renew at Bayern Munich, it will be interesting to see who Real Madrid go after in the summer.
Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck, currently in the midst of a contract dispute, has emerged as a concrete target, but could cost more than €50 million.
Young Jeremy Jacquet of Rennes is also a player on the Merengues’ radar for the summer.
