Huijsen was initially shown a yellow card for a foul on Giuliano Simeone in the area, which denied a goalscoring chance. It was upgraded to a red card in the 49th minute.

Atlético took the lead from the resulting penalty, converted by Alejandro Grimaldo in the 53rd minute.

A few minutes later, former Lille striker Jonathan David doubled the advantage in the 59th minute.
