Much of Real Madrid’s preparations for the new season would hinge on the appointment of a new manager.

Jose Mourinho appears to be the desired pick, with Los Blancos already in advanced talks with the Portuguese tactician. But the club remain equally keen on bringing in reinforcements, particularly in midfield.

For the longest time, Real Madrid were linked with a move for Rodri. But they have also been keeping tabs on PSG’s emerging star, Vitinha.

Vitinha still top target but Real Madrid have doubts

According to ESPN journalist Rodra (h/t Madrid Zone), Real Madrid have identified Vitinha as their favourite reinforcement option in the middle of the park.

The Portuguese international, after all, has been in imperious form at PSG under Luis Enrique, establishing himself as one of the best in the world.

Vitinha’s ability to control the midfield and dictate the tempo of the match makes him very similar to Toni Kroos – a player Real Madrid have missed dearly.

If Mourinho does become the new manager, the Portuguese synergy between them could work wonders at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Real Madrid have doubts about the Vitinha pursuit, with the board seeing his signing as almost impossible.

It is hard to blame Los Blancos either as Vitinha is considered one of PSG’s best players and a key reason for the club’s success in recent years.

Keeping that in mind, the French giants are unlikely to offload the Portuguese international anytime soon. The player’s long-term contract until 2029 should give PSG even more leverage over his future.

Real Madrid, therefore, may have to look at other options in their bid to reinforce their ranks in the middle of the park this coming summer.
