Víctor Valdepenas is currently living a dream at Real Madrid. An academy player, who is a part of the Castilla setup currently, the teenage defender made his debut with the first team last Sunday at Mendizorroza against Alaves.

The 19-year-old talent started as the left-back for Real Madrid last weekend due to the absences of Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia through suspension, while Ferland Mendy was unavailable through injury.

With Carreras and Garcia ruled out against Sevilla as well and Mendy unlikely to return, Valdepenas could once again start for Real Madrid on Saturday night.

Improved salary for Valdepenas

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid will improve the contract of Valdepenas by increasing his salary due to his good performances.

This was already planned even before his official first-team debut last Sunday at Mendizorroza. The length of his contract will not be changed and continues to run until 2029.

Valdepenas is considered one of the biggest prospects currently coming through the Real Madrid academy.

The versatile defender has played in 13 of the 16 league matches this season for Castilla, scoring and assisting one goal apiece. In addition, he has scored a goal from two UEFA Youth League matches and even featured once in the U21 Premier League International Cup.

Apart from having made his first-team debut, Valdepenas has also been included in the squad for the Champions League game vs Manchester City and the Copa del Rey clash against Talavera.

Given his talent and potential, Real Madrid will improve the versatile defender’s salary as a reward for his strong performances with Castilla.

Last summer, clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal made enquiries about Valdepenas and remain interested. It could be a factor behind Real Madrid offering him an improved deal.
