In a recent report, Defensa Central stated that Real Madrid are set to rival Lyon for Botafogo starlet Matheus Nascimento. It is understood that Los Blancos are keeping tabs on the progress of the Brazilian forward.
Nascimento came through the youth ranks of Botafogo and has now established himself as a prominent member of their first team. The 18-year-old has already made 44 senior appearances for the Brazilian club so far, finding the back of the net eight times and earning two assists in the process across various competitions.
The Brazilian prospect has already shown flashes of his true potential in Brazilian football over the past couple of years. Thus, it is no surprise that Real Madrid are monitoring his development at the Estádio Nilton Santos.

At such a tender age, Nascimento has already begun to prove his worth in Brazilian football. He can make some decent runs with the ball in the final third and is a tidy finisher in front of the opposition goal.
There is no denying that a striker of Nascimento’s potential will be a great acquisition for Los Blancos in the long run. He has what it takes to become a success story at the Madrid club and would do well to follow in the footsteps of Vinicius Junior, who has grown into a real superstar at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium over the past few years.
The Rio de Janeiro talent could grow into a world-class centre-forward under the stewardship of an experienced manager like Carlo Ancelotti. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in Spanish football.
At 18, the future is quite bright for Nascimento as long as he continues to take strides towards improving himself with each season. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Ancelotti should think about going all out in the race to secure his signature.
