La Liga rivals Real Madrid and Sevilla are close to finalising an agreement for the transfer of youngster Fran González to the latter.

This comes amid a concerted push on the part of the brass in Nervión to bring the goalkeeper in with a view to next season.

Fran, for his part, is a 21-year-old shot-stopper, who has long been held in high regard in Madrid and across Spain alike. This past season, he was a regular feature in Real’s first-team setup, sitting behind Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin in the pecking order between the posts.

Aware that a move away from the Bernabéu would be required to ramp up his development, though, Fran has for some time now been linked with a summer transfer.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then the youngster’s next landing spot now appears all but set in stone.

As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto, citing information first gathered by journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon:

‘Real Madrid goalkeeper Fran González is on the verge of signing with Sevilla. An agreement already exists between the player and the Andalusian club, and the deal between the clubs is being finalized.’
