With the international break over, league action in women’s football returned around the globe.

Primera Iberdrola 🇪🇸

Holding a seven-point lead with three games in hand, it’s pretty easy to predict Barcelona Femini will walk away as champions of the Primera Iberdrola again.

Their recent 3-0 win over Eibar extends their perfect record to 17 games with a staggering +84 goal differential.

Yet even with the title race seemingly over, the fight for Champions League spots remains a tight contest.

Levante sits in second after a win over Sporting Huelva. Down just two minutes in, a late push was needed to secure all three points.

María Méndez Fernández tied the match in the 88th minute and then Esther González scored a 94th-minute winner to come out victorious.

In other news, Atlético Madrid moved up to third after city rivals Real Madrid lost 3-1 to Real Sociedad despite taking the lead just 11 minutes in.

Las Blancas, however, have a game in hand and will face Logroño on 3 March with a chance to move back up again.

Serie A Women 🇮🇹

Over in Italy, Juventus’ 3-1 win over San Marino on 28 February sees them still hold on to the top spot in the league.

The current title holders sit a slim three points over Milan whose thumping 6-1 win over Bari keeps the title race a close one.

Looking ahead in the schedule, their next fixture is crucial as both these sides go head-to-head on 7 March for what will be a title-deciding contest.

Juventus maintain a perfect record whereas Milan have just one loss, coming at the hands of their next opponents.

Lower down in the table is Sassuolo who sit third after Erika Santoro earned them a 1-0 win over Napoli.

They sit eights points behind Milan but currently hold a six-point lead over fourth-place Roma.

Depending on the result between Juventus and Milan next week, Sassuolo could still make a push for the top two.

Division 1 Féminine 🇫🇷

The title race is even closer in France with Olympique Lyonnais and Paris Saint Germain battling for the title.

Lyon have held the title for 14-straight seasons but the club from Paris currently hold a one-point lead at the top.

As a result, both sides will have to make sure there are no slip-ups with a race as close as this.

Earlier this week, PSG won 4-0 against Issy FF and Lyon downed Soyaux-Charente by 2-0.

Like in Italy, these two clubs play each other soon and the result on 13 March will be huge in terms of the title race.

For the 2021/22 UEFA Women’s Champions League, Spain and France will have three entries for the competition while Italy will have two.
