Fresh off breaking into the first-team picture at Real Madrid at just 16 years of age this summer, the Spaniard was on Friday ruled out for what is likely to be the entirety of the campaign.

The latest victim of what is quickly beginning to look like a curse in Madrid, Joan, after being forced out of training, was diagnosed with a torn ACL.

No doubt a heavy shock to the system for such a young player, messages of support have since poured in for Joan, from across the world of football.

And, as alluded to above, in the immediate aftermath of his training ground blow, one high-profile member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad did his best to throw his backing behind the Spaniard, too.

Fully aware of the psychological impact of serious knee injuries, having himself suffered one in years past, Antonio Rüdiger personally accompanied Joan to the hospital in Madrid.

Not only that, but, as confirmed by The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana, the German then joined the youngster on his trip home, too.
