Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham named England Player of the Year again | OneFootball

Despite not having enjoyed very good form with Real Madrid during the last two seasons, several Merengue players are still playing at a very high level with their respective national teams.

This was the case with Vinicius Junior, who remained the most impressive player for Brazil during the last World Cup, and remained the focal point of the Canarinha attack in absence of other stars like Rodrygo Goes and Raphinha.

Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham was also at his best level, as he helped his English national team get to the semi-finals and end the tournament at the third-place.

Mainly owing to these performances, Mundo Deportivo reports that the Real Madrid star has been voted by the fans as England’s Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season. The midfielder had won this award last year as well.

During the last season, Bellingham played 12 games for England, during which he scored seven goals and provided one assist. All of these seven goals came at the highest stage, in the World Cup, which also made him the highest scorer in a single World Cup campaign for England.

The Merengue star responded to this recognition with the following words:

“It’s a fantastic feeling… It’s a great honour that the fans have recognised me again. It’s not something you think about when you’re playing for your national team, but obviously, it’s a lovely touch that adds to the magnificent summer we’ve had and the honour of representing my country.”

Following the World Cup, Jude Bellingham has continued with his good form for Real Madrid as well. In the first eight games of the new season, he has scored three goals and provided two assists. Hopefully, this latest recognition will only spur him on to continue performing at his best level, especially as his contributions would be crucial if the Merengues are to win big trophies this season.
