Real Madrid star left off Champions League squad list | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has not been included on the club’s official Champions League squad list for the season ahead.

The Blancos star in question? Ferland Mendy.

Stopper Mendy is for his part condemned to yet another spell on the sidelines at present. After limping out of a La Liga meeting with Espanyol back in May, the Frenchman was confirmed to have suffered ‘a tendon injury in the rectus femoris of his right leg’.

Mendy, as a result, was forced back under the knife, yet to return to group activities at Valdebebas as of this week.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then the 31-year-old’s competitive comeback appears unlikely to be forthcoming any time soon, either.

As per a report from Marca:

‘Real Madrid has submitted its Champions League squad list to UEFA, and Ferland Mendy is not on it. The French left-back has been left out of the 25 available spots on the club’s A list.’
