Real Madrid star remains a major doubt to face Barcelona | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is in a tight race against time to return to fitness in time to face arch rivals Barcelona.

That’s according to Diario AS, who highlight Dean Huijsen as the player in question.

Youngster Huijsen was for his part condemned to a spell on the sidelines earlier this month.

As much came after the summer arrival in Madrid was sent home from international duty with Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad owing to a calf issue.

The hope, initially, was that Huijsen would be back in action in just two weeks.

If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, however, then this outlook may have been a touch too enthusiastic.

As per a report from AS, ten days out from the season’s first edition of El Clásico, Huijsen’s status remains up in the air.

Aware that the intensity of the fixture will make it a testing one for all players, Real Madrid have no intention of risking their defensive gem in the case of him not being fully fit.

A ‘photo finish’ is therefore seen as being in store.
