Real Madrid star reveals hopes of ‘long-time’ partnership with Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsí | OneFootball

Real Madrid star Dean Huijsen has this week revealed his hopes of sharing the pitch with Barcelona counterpart Pau Cubarsí at international level for years to come.

This comes after the pair showcased encouraging early signs as a pairing in Spain’s most recent outing.

Huijsen and Cubarsí were the central defensive partnership chosen by Luis de la Fuente to feature from the off in La Roja’s Nations League meeting with Croatia on Tuesday night.

This marked a change from the standout duo of Cubarsí and Aymeric Laporte which anchored Spain’s backline en route to glory at this past summer’s World Cup.

It also represented a deserved reward for Huijsen for what has been an impressive opening to the campaign in the colours of Real Madrid.

Speaking to the media post-match, the former Juventus and Bournemouth talent was therefore drawn on his long-term partnership prospects with Barcelona’s defensive prodigy.

And Huijsen made use of the opportunity to lavish praise on Cubarsí, explaining:

”The Huijsen-Cubarsí duo? It’s good. I think you can see the level he has.

”We get along really well, and I hope it continues like this. Besides being a great player, he’s also a great guy. I hope we can share the dressing room for a long time.”
