Real Madrid star Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to be left on the bench once again for the club’s upcoming meeting with Liverpool.

This comes as the Englishman continues to work his way back towards full fitness.

Defender Alexander-Arnold is for his part fresh off acting as an unused substitute for the 2nd game in succession on Saturday.

After being benched for the entirety of El Clásico, the 27-year-old was then left to watch on from the sideline as Real Madrid made short work of Valencia, too.

All told, Alexander-Arnold has in turn not taken to the pitch since the middle of September, owing to a hamstring injury.

Now considered at least close to match sharpness, claims had long begun to mount that TAA would therefore at last be reintroduced to a starting role against former club Liverpool this week.

If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, however, then this will not be the case.

As per a report from The Athletic, in the 7th week of an eight-week recovery programme:

‘It is very unlikely that Alexander-Arnold will start at Anfield.’

The expectation is that, with Dani Carvajal fresh off being condemned to another long-term spell on the sidelines, Federico Valverde will therefore continue in his role at right-back against Liverpool.
