Real Madrid head into the international break with momentum on their side after securing a dramatic 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Now, with no matches scheduled until early next month, Alvaro Arbeloa’s side now has a brief window to reset before entering one of the most demanding phases of their season.

In that regard, April will test the squad’s depth, consistency, and ambition across both La Liga and the Champions League.

A demanding schedule for Real Madrid

The campaign resumes on Saturday, April 4, with Real Madrid scheduled to face Mallorca.

It is the kind of fixture that can often be tricky, especially coming right after an international break, but one that Real Madrid cannot afford to slip up in if they are to maintain pressure in the title race.

Just days later, attention shifts to Europe. Bayern Munich arrive at the Bernabeu on April 7 for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

This clash is undoubtedly one of the standout fixtures of the season, pitting two European giants against each other with a place in the semi-finals at stake.

Following that high-intensity encounter, Real Madrid return to domestic action on April 10, hosting Girona at the Bernabeu.

Then, the second leg against Bayern Munich on April 15 in Munich could prove decisive.

Playing away in such a crucial European tie will demand focus, discipline, and experience.

While Real Madrid do possess all that, much will depend on their performance in the first leg.

Furthermore, the latter part of the month does not ease up either, as Los Blancos will host Alaves during the week of April 21–23 before facing Real Betis away on the weekend of April 25–26.

Simply put, the month of April will be quite demanding for Real Madrid as they play six matches in the span of 23 days, which translates to roughly one match every fourth day.
