At the start of the season, Joan Martinez was almost destined to become the next big defensive prodigy for Real Madrid.
A star in the academy, Martinez was regarded as one of the most talented defenders to come through the ranks in recent years. He was even part of the senior setup during the pre-season campaign.
However, just before the start of the new campaign, Martinez picked up a serious injury that ruled him out for the entirety of the season.
However, recent reports indicate Martinez has gone through a speedy recovery process and could return to action sooner than expected.
According to Rodra P, Martinez is nearing his return to the field, in what could serve as a massive boost for Real Madrid.

Although Martinez has yet to prove himself at a competitive level, his talent remains undeniable and once he returns to full fitness, he could certainly make a case for being included in Carlo Ancelotti’s defensive plans.
Real Madrid, this season, have already a produced a talented centre-back in the form of Raul Asencio.
Moreover, the club have been heavily linked with a move for Bournemouth starlet Dean Huijsen, who is reportedly a huge fan of the club.
Huijsen’s father even dropped a huge hint yesterday by posting a story of his son being linked to Real Madrid. That story has been deleted since.
Nevertheless, with Asencio establishing himself well and Huijsen potentially joining the club in the summer, Real Madrid may have another defensive gem in their hands in Joan Martinez.
The combination of Martinez, Asencio and Huijsen could potentially give Real Madrid the youthful exuberance that the defensive unit has been missing in a long long time.
